Braves | Griffey announcement could come Wednesday
by George Utter on February 18, 2009

Updating previous items, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting an announcement on free-agent OF Ken Griffey Jr. (White Sox) signing with the Atlanta Braves could come on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
Our Instinct: Does anyone else think this signing is more about ticket sales than winning in a slow economy? I hate to say it, because I love Griffey, but he should be riding off into the sunset as a DH the next 3-4 years and retire as 1st ballot hall of famer and NOT looking old and tired in the outfield. I would offer better hope for fantasy owners if he was going to DH, however if he goes to Atlanta, don’t expect more than 430 points and $11 value. Let someone else living the glory years have the headaches of finding a replacement when he hits the DL.
