Updating an earlier report, FOXSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal reports the Baltimore Orioles are close to signing 2B Brian Roberts to a four-year, $40 million deal.
Our Instinct: Brian Roberts, who won’t be 32 until after the 2009 season comes at a good price for the Orioles. Look for his numbers to dip ever so slighty from last year, but to remain a great and under appreciated option at 2B. In auction points leagues you can count on 600-650 points and $25 in value and usually be able to get him at discount compared to Chase Utley, Dustin Pedroia, and Ian Kinsler.
