Marlins | Maybin, Bonifacio could bat leadoff
by George Utter on February 19, 2009

Clark Spencer, of The Miami Herald, is reporting Florida Marlins OF Cameron Maybin may bat leadoff if he makes the parent club, and SS Hanley Ramirez will likely slide to third. IF Emilio Bonifacio has also been mentioned as a candidate for the top spot.
Our Instinct: Having Han-Ram bat third is the only obvious thing here. Bonifacio still has to make the team, so I’m not sure that him leading off is anything more than a rumor. If Maybin can translate his minor league numbers into the majors (.389 obp) he could turn into an excellent leadoff man. I originally had Maybin down for 525 ab’s, but if he does indeed leadoff, we can bump that up to 600+. 40 or more stolen bases wouldn’t be a shock. Tuck that info away and snag him in your auction for $4-$10 and enjoy the $18-$22 in value he gives you.
