Dodgers | Boras wanted $55 million
by George Utter on February 28, 2009
Tony Jackson, of the Los Angeles Daily News, reports free-agent OF Manny Ramirez’s (Dodgers) agent, Scott Boras, asked the Los Angeles Dodgers to increase their offer of two-years, $45 million to two-years, $55 million, according to two highly placed sources. The sources also indicated that Boras never objected to the idea of deferred money in the contract.
Our Instinct: Scott Boras always seems to take the absurd to a new level, so who the hell knows what will happen here. I thought he would eat it when he had A-Rod opt out last year and then end up with a $275mm contract with the Yankees. It seems silly to be asking $27.5mm per year for an obviously declining Ramirez, but if anyone can get it, the Boras/Ramirez sideshow can.
