Diamondbacks | Davis reveals nerve damage
by George Utter on March 4, 2009
Diamondbacks.MLB.com’s Steve Gilbert reports Arizona Diamondbacks SP Doug Davis (arm) revealed he has dealt with nerve damage in his left arm for five years and takes a medication called neurontin to treat it. The problem occurs, Davis said, when his shoulder muscles get tight and squeeze the nerve. That causes him to get “zingers” from the left side of his neck down to his forearm.
Our Instinct: Seeing that there are guys in the league who miss time for laughing too hard or passing gas wrong, Davis is a true warrior. The dude has been through a lot of stuff. The 33 year old should bounce back a little from last season. A $3-$5 buy isn’t bad for him to fill out the end of your rotation.
