John Shea, of the San Francisco Chronicle, reports Oakland Athletics 1B Jason Giambi (legs) served as the designated hitter Friday, March 20, and will return to first base Saturday, March 21. He has been bothered by sore legs lately.
Our Instinct: Giambi should get more ab’s this season than he has in any season since 2003, however don’t expect him to face lefties too often, limiting his chances of reaching 500 ab’s – but it should be close. He could have about $15-$16 value and we would expect that a deep position like 1b, he would be easy to purchase for around $10.
