Rays | Upton hit by pitch Saturday
by George Utter on March 22, 2009
Updating previous reports, Tampa Bay Rays OF B.J. Upton (hand) was hit in the left hand by a pitched ball Saturday, March 21, during a minor league game, according to Marc Lancaster of The Tampa Tribune. Upton was hit at the base of his left pinky finger, and had to leave the game. He is listed as day-to-day with a bone bruise.
Our Instinct: Wow! How do you like that, we just reported yesterday how Upton’s shoulder was fine and then he gets plunked on the hands. Such is life in the major leagues. He should still be good to go on opening day.
