Rockies | Stewart starts at second in place of Barmes
by George Utter on April 6, 2009
Updating previous reports, Patrick Saunders, of The Denver Post, reports Colorado Rockies 3B Ian Stewart started at second base Monday, April 6, in place of 2B Clint Barmes because the team was looking for maximum firepower and wanted to get another left-handed bat in their lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Brandon Webb.
Our Instinct: Stewart went 1 for 3 on the day with an rbi and a strikeout as the Rockies hammered Brandon Webb. Look for Stewart to get as close to full time ab’s as a player without a position can get. It’s been rumored that he will se time at 1b, 2b, ss, 3b, and the corner outfield spots. If he can be productive and gain eligibility at most or all of those positions, that would be huge.
