Pirates | Pedro Alvarez hot
by George Utter on April 15, 2009
Thomas George Baseball reports that Pedro Alvarez, the Pirates’ first-round pick in the 2008 Draft, went 3-for-4, drove in four runs and fell a triple shy of the cycle in his Minor League debut Thursday to power the Lynchburg Hillcats past the visiting Potomac Nationals, 6-5.
Our Instinct: It’s nice to see Alvarez get off to a good start. His weight is still an issue, but the young man should be able to get it under control. He’s got a great bat.
