Pirates | Doumit has injured wrist
by George Utter on April 21, 2009
Dejan Kovacevic, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Pirates C Ryan Doumit (wrist) has a right wrist injury and will undergo an MRI Monday, April 20. X-rays on Doumit’s wrist did not show any fractures. He injured the wrist during a swing in his second at-bat Sunday, April 19.
Our instinct: Rookie Jason Jarmillo started for Doumit on Monday and Tuesday, going 3 for 6 with a walk, a double, and an rbi. You can’t really expect that from him often. Doumits MRI was “inconclusive” and if needs surgery, that would be a huge loss for the Pirates.
