Ryan Divish, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Seattle Mariners C Jamie Burke is starting at first base Thursday, April 23, with DH Mike Sweeney (back) and 1B Russell Branyan (back) on the sidelines.
Our instinct: That’s great. Let’s look past the cutting Chris Shelton in spring training thing. The real shame here is drafting Jeff Clement 2 spots ahead of Ryan Braun in the 2005 draft. How would things look right now with Braun at 1B?
