Rockies | Tracy prefers five-man bench
by George Utter on February 14, 2010
The Denver Post’s Troy E. Renck reports that Colorado Rockies manager Jim Tracy would prefer to have a five-man bench this season. The favorites for the five bench spots are OFs Seth Smith and Ryan Spilborghs, IFs Jason Giambi and Melvin Mora, and the loser of the starting catcher competition between Chris Iannetta and Miguel Olivo.
Our Instinct: Nothing too crazy here, though for fantasy purposes Iannetta would be the best bet to shoulder the catching load. A platoon situation is what is cooking here, and we never like the taste of that.
