Orioles | Albers, Mickolio lead right-handed candidates
by George Utter on February 15, 2010
The Baltimore Sun reports Baltimore Orioles RPs David Hernandez and Jason Berken will compete with Kam Mickolio, Cla Meredith, Matt Albers and Dennis Sarfate for two right-handed openings in the bullpen. Albers, who is out of options, and Mickolio are the leading candidates. Another spot might open for a righty if SP Koji Uehara isn’t ready for Opening Day.
Our Instinct: Kam Mickolio is high on some lists, but he reminds me a lot of Merkin Valdez. He’s a 1 pitch pony (80% FBs, 15% SLDs, and 5% CHGs). There isn’t much to get excited about, but then when we talk about middle relievers in fantasy baseball – there usually isn’t.
