Cardinals | More on Penny’s session
by George Utter on February 16, 2010
Updating an earlier report, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Derrick Goold reports St. Louis Cardinals SP Brad Penny threw a mix of pitches, including some “easy curveballs” and a couple of changeups, in his throwing session Monday, Feb. 15.
Our Instinct: Penny is one of those pitcher who will get paid more in auctions based on what he has done, and not what he will do. Expect him to earn about $6-$7 with the Cardinals, but some owner will cough up $12-$15 for him. Don’t let that be you. If you can get him for a discount, then by all means – he is a nice end-of-rotation option.
