Steve Gilbert, of MLB.com, reports Arizona Diamondbacks SP Jarrod Parker (elbow) will throw Tuesday, Feb. 16, for the first time in months following Tommy John surgery. “They did all the tests and everything, and it went really well,” Parker said. “The full range of motion is back and almost better than it was before surgery. They tested it for strength, and they were happy with that.” He threw a tennis ball lightly last week before visiting with Dr. James Andrews Monday, Feb. 14. The initial plan is to possibly have Parker pitching again by the time instructional baseball comes around in the fall, but Andrews told Parker there is a chance he could return before that.
Our Instinct: Parker is Arizona’s best prospect. The Arizona Fall League sounds about right. Don’t expect the Backs to push him too fast for no real reason. Hopefully he recovers from TJ without any ill effect.
