Bryan Hoch, of MLB.com, reports New York Yankees OF Curtis Granderson has been working with hitting coach Kevin Long on his approach at the plate against left-handed pitchers. Granderson’s mechanics against lefties break down, and he tries to hit the ball the other way too much, which is something he will work on in Spring Training. “In order to get to the big leagues, I had to hit left-handed pitching,” Granderson said. “I’ve done it. Just over the course of the past couple of years, I’ve run into a couple of bumps in the road. But hopefully we can go ahead and straighten that out and get things back to neutral on both sides.”
Our Instinct: Granderson is a top 15 outfielder. It’s good to see him identify the problem and work towards fixing it. Working with Kevin Long can only be a good thing. Expect him to be worth $23-$25 value on auction day.
