Updating previous reports, Washington Nationals SP Ross Detwiler (hip) said he started to feel pain in his right hip around mid-to-late January, according to MLB.com’s Bill Ladson. He also said he experienced some aches and pains last year, but claimed it wasn’t worth mentioning to the team. Detwiler is currently walking around on crutches.
Our Instinct: Detwiler will be on crutches for the next 3 weeks and could return in the next 10 weeks following hip surgery this past Monday. This seems to lock up a rotation for Chien-Ming Wang, and by the time he comes back he will have to contend with Stephan Strasburg.
