Red Sox | Wakefield’s goal is to start 30 games
by George Utter on February 21, 2010
The Boston Globe’s Peter Abraham reports Boston Red Sox SP Tim Wakefield expects to be in the starting rotation this season and has set a personal goal of making 30 starts this year. “I’ll be one of the five starters,” he said. “As long as I’m healthy during spring training, no setbacks, when we start the season, I’ll think I’ll be one of the five.”
Our Instinct: Let’s see – there’s Lester, Beckett, Lackey, Dice-K, and Buchholz. The last time I counted, Tim, Boston runs a 5 man rotation and unless you or someone else gets traded or an injury, you’re the long man and spot starter. This is the 3rd time since the Lackey signing that Wakefield has brought up being a starter. I sense some trouble ahead between him and Theo.
