Rockies | Barmes using open batting stance

by George Utter on February 22, 2010

Colorado RockiesThe Denver Post’s Troy E. Renck reports Colorado Rockies 2B Clint Barmes has reverted back to an open batting stance similar to the one used by former Rockies 3B Garrett Atkins, but less exaggerated. Barmes feels an open stance will allow him to have greater success dealing with inside pitches.

Our Instinct:  Barmes hit .245-23-76-69-12 in 2009.   It was a career year across the board for him, except his batting average dipped.  I don’t expect him to hit .290 again, but .270 isn’t unrealistic either.
