Brewers | 2B Rickie Weeks wants to play more than a few weeks
by George Utter on February 28, 2010
Adam McCalvy, of MLB.com, reports Milwaukee Brewers 2B Rickie Weeks (wrist) has been hitting since November, and worked out in the offseason with 1B Prince Fielder and free-agent 2B Felipe Lopez (Brewers). “Last time I was still rehabbing in Spring Training,” Weeks said. “This time, I’ve had three months of hitting to get ready. I’ve been telling everybody that it doesn’t even feel like I had surgery.”
Our Instinct: The 27 year old Weeks has all the potential in the world to be one of the best 2B in the game, however he’s building a J.D. Drew type reputation as being someone who can’t play a full season. Weeks has missed 335 games over the past 5 seasons, so why we love the optimism that he has – we can’t help but be a little skeptical.
