Joe Mauer and Victor Martinez lead the way on our Projection Instinct: 2010 Fantasy Catchers. Mauer and Martinez make up the top tier, and while Mauer is one of the most valuable players in fantasy baseball at any position, Martinez and his C/1B eligiability isn’t too far behind. The two of them make up the top tier, which theres a huge drop off to the 2nd tier. Once you get into the 3rd and 4th tier the talent is pretty thin and theres no significant drop offs. You’ll have to pay dearly for the top 2 catchers, and a pretty good chunk for the next two. After that, it’s pretty ill advised to do anything but look for a bargain and try to make up your point loss at another position.
