Our Instinct: If Martinez hasn’t been on your radar, he should be. Martinez’s peripherals scream out at you with only 36 hits given up and 68 strikeouts over 49 1/3 IP for Class-A Cedar Rapids. There are also some red flags. Martinez has given up 25 runs on those 36 hits and walked 38 batters. Obviously, control is something he will need to work on. The runs problem seems to be a case of bad luck, however. With a little more seasoning, Martinez could be a real player to watch.
