Yankees 2B Robinson Cano went 1 for 5 with his 20th of double of the season as the Yankees beat up on Roy Halladay and the Phillies 8-3.
Our Instinct: Cano is hitting .368 with 13 hr, 47 rbi, 51 runs, and 2 sb. He’s struck out 32 times and walked 19 in 272 plate appearances. He’s currently the best player on the planet and leading the way in the AL MVP race.
Yankees OF Nick Swisher went 2 for 5 with a 2 run home run Tuesday Night in the win over the Phillies.
Our Instinct: Swisher is hitting .301 with 11 hr, 42 rbi, and 42 runs scored. He’s well on his way to out pace last years numbers. The batting average has been a pleasant surprise.
Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira went 1 for 5 with a solo home run against the Phillies.
Our Instinct: Teixeira is hitting just .229 with 10 hr, 38 rbi, and 43 runs on the season. He’s in the midst of a 7 game hitting streak that includes a couple of home runs. Expect him to keep picking up the pace as the summer heats up. He’s still a good buy low player as hard as it is to believe.
Yankees C Jorge Posada did not hit a grand slam for the 3rd straight game, however did have a hit and 2 runs scored against the Phillies.
Our Instinct: Posada is hit .291 with 8 hr, 23 rbi, and 22 runs in 127 at bats on the season. The 38 year old Posada is looking good since coming off the disabled list. He’s a top catcher and a must start.
Yankees SP CC Sabathia pitched 7 innings while striking out 7 batters, walking 3, and giving up 3 earned runs in a win over the Phillies.
Our Instinct: Sabathia moves to 7-3 with a 4.00 era, 76 k’s, and 30 walks on the season. Jered Weaver, Ricky Romero, David Price, and even team mate Phil Hughes have put up better numbers than Sabathia in the AL, however CC remains a must start in fantasy leagues.
