Brewers | Prospect SP Jake Odorizzi punches out eight Thursday night against Burlington
by David Reiffer on July 3, 2010
Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Brewers) SP Jake Odorizzi, despite a tremendous effort Thursday night, walks away without a decision during a Single-A Midwest League match-up with the Burlington Bees. The 20-year-old right-hander pitched 7 innings of one-run ball while striking out 8 and walking only one.
Our Instinct: A 32nd overall pick two seasons ago, Odorizzi should be opening eyes this season with his consistency. At three minor league levels, he has been able to pile up similarly solid numbers which now stand at: 12 GS, 3.14 ERA, 71.2 innings pitched, 24 BB, 87 strikeouts, and only one homerun allowed. His low 90′s heat and serviceable secondary pitches need to be challenged at higher levels soon.
