Mariners | 1B Justin Smoak acquired from Rangers
by George Utter on July 9, 2010
Seattle Mariners 1B Justin Smoak and Minor Leaguer’s SP Blake Beavan, SP Josh Lueke and SP Matt Lawson were acquired from the Texas Rangers for SP Cliff Lee and RP Mark Lowe on Friday.
Our Instinct: While we think C Jesus Montero and SP Zack McAllister would of been a better fit for the Mariners, Jack Z. got the 1B they have coveted. Smoak is hitting .208 with 8 hr’s, 34 rbi, 29 runs, and 1 sb. He’s got the ability to be a fantasy stud regardless of venue, and with him moving to Safeco this could be an excellent chance for fantasy leaguers to lay it on thick and make a trade for him while is perceived value is modest.
