Rice | Top 2011 Draft Prospect Breaks Ankle

by Thomas Belmont on July 15, 2010

Rice University star 3B Anthony Rendon a severe ankle injury while Playing for Team USA.

Our Instinct: Some consider Rendon the top prospect available for the 2011 MLB Draft. After a sophmore season that had Rendon his 26 HR with a .394/.530/.801 slashline it not a far stretch. While speed is not Rendon’s top tool, this is the second severe injury that Rendon has suffered to his ankle. But it is his power and hit tool that make him special.  He should be able to come back from this surgery and be good to go for the start of the 2011 College Season.
