Seattle Mariners 1B Justin Smoak went 0-6 in an extra innings loss to the Boston Red Sox on Thursday.
Our Instinct: Smoak is in a 0 for 13, 5 k slump, and is just 8 for 40, with 19 k’s since joining the Mariners in the Cliff Lee trade. While the 23 year old 2008 1st round draft pick is on a pace to hit 18 hr’s and drive in 70 runs, he may also strike out 150 times. We can’t help wonder if he wouldn’t be a little better served heading to Tacoma for the rest of the season.
