Texas Rangers SP Cliff Lee gave up 2 runs on 5 hits and no walks, while striking out 4 in 8 2/3 innings Thursday while defeating the Los Angeles Angels 3-2.
Our Instinct: The effort was 2 outs shy of having his 7th complete game of the season and 3rd as a Ranger. This was exactly why the Rangers made the gutsy decision to get Lee; to defeat the Angels. Lee is now 9-4 with a 2.56 era, 101 k’s, and just 7 walks in 130 innings pitched. He’s on a pace to win 15 games, have 10 complete games, strike out 170, and walk a ridiculous 12 batters. That’s pretty good for a guy not activated from the DL until May 1st.
