I’ll break down my Moore review into hard data (as much I can give reliably) and some brief subjective observations:

PITCH SELECTION AND QUALITY:
In innings 1-4, he balanced the changeup and the fastball pretty evenly, although the fastball was almost exclusively his out pitch. It was, certainly, his out pitch for all or almost all of his seven K’s.

Inning five saw him firing fastballs almost exclusively, as he must’ve been fully aware that it was his last inning. It would be bad wording to call it “leaning” on the fastball, though; he just knew Toledo couldn’t touch it and that he was in his last inning. I’d be interested to know if the fifth inning pitch selection was his decision or dictated by management/catcher.

The Baseball Instinct powers-that-be have charged me with one last article commenting on the fantasy impact of MLB players switching teams, and I’m afraid it’s bound to be a dull one, folks. “The NL West has gone flat,” writes the Sporting News in its 2009 baseball yearbook, and I’m inclined to agree as I try to gather interesting players to write about for this article. This of course, is partly a product of a depressed economy and slightly offset by the Manny “No Longer Godot” Ramirez signing with the Dodgers, but it certainly won’t make my job any easier. Anyway, here goes:

Continuing my attention to the fantasy impact of players on new teams in 2009, I turn my attention to the NL Central, a division with plenty of little nuances for me to talk about. My intellect is stimulating itself. I’m a naughty, naughty man.

The above paragraph is a demonstration of why I’m not allowed within 100 feet of the cheerleaders at my university.

Anyway, on to the players.

Baseball Instinct’s powers-that-be have coerced me into writing an article discussing the fantasy prospects of various players who’ll be suiting up for new MLB teams this spring. They thought I would be intimidated, daunted, cowed. The fools. What follows is an analysis of some high-profile movers, abiding by the principle of doing one max per [...]
